🚫 Meta AI wants your content. Here’s how to say “No Thanks” before 27 May 2025
Aswin Lutchanah, Your Favourite Social Media Manager

Meta is rolling out updates that could use your public content, yes, your posts and comments, to train its AI systems. While this might sound like a futuristic leap, it’s already happening.
But here’s the good news: you can object.
And it only takes a few taps.
🤖 What’s happening?
Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) plans to include public user-generated content in its AI training datasets. This means your witty captions, heartfelt posts, or spicy comment threads could help feed their machine learning models.
For some, it’s not a big deal. For others, it’s a hard no.
If you fall into the latter category, you have the right to object; but the deadline is 27 May 2025.
âś… How to object to Meta AI using your content
On Facebook:
- Go to facebook.com/settings
- Choose Privacy Centre
- Follow the prompts to object
On Instagram:
- Open the app and go to your profile
- Tap the menu (top right corner)
- Scroll down to Privacy Centre
- Tap through to object
That’s it. You’re done.
🎯 Why does this matter?
AI is evolving fast, and your data is more valuable than ever. Whether you’re a creator, entrepreneur, or everyday user, it’s worth asking yourself: Do I want my content to be part of this training system?
This isn’t about fear: it’s about choice.
